This August 9th-12th, Sovereign Grace Ministries will be hosting their fifth biannual Worship God conference in Gaithersburg, MD. This conference is the most comprehensive theological and applicational conference on worship in evangelicalism today. And while I will not be able to attend this year’s conference, I would like to let you know what is going on.
SGM exists “to start, establish, and strengthen local churches with the gospel, for God’s glory.” They are an excellent source for music, conferences and events, books, audio sermons, videos, spanish resources, and teaching message outlines.
Speakers at this year’s Worship God ’06 conference will include Bob Kauflin, Randy Alcorn, and Keith & Kristyn Getty (“In Christ Alone”) among others within the Sovereign Grace leadership team.
This year’s theme will be on the glory of the presence of God. SGM says, “Throughout Scripture a distinguishing mark of God’s people has been His presence, especially during corporate worship. But how are we to understand God’s presence? If God is everywhere, why does He tell us to seek His presence continually (Psalm. 105:4)? What part do God’s Word and His Spirit play in making God’s presence known to us? What part do feelings play, if any, in being aware of God’s presence?”
The conference will include six main sessions, along with over thirty seminars that deal with more specific topics such as healthy tensions in corporate worship, training children to worship God, microphone applications, song evaluation, and a tech panel.
I will be communicating with a few worship leaders that will be in attendance at this year’s conference. And I will keep you updated as to how things go.
If you are interested in attending the conference, you can still register online.
I am really looking forward to hearing the stories of how worshipers are encouraged to revel in the glory of the presence of Christ through this years Worship God ’06 conference. And I pray that you will be encouraged through the updates as well.
